Things people have said about us.
Nice and otherwise.

And this is us bragging about it.

Small team. Unlimited possibilities.

And we're not bad-looking either... if we do say so ourselves.

Joshua

Josh Beck

Joshua isn’t your average mortgage broker - unless your average broker enjoys untangling fine print far more than is socially acceptable. He works across residential and commercial lending, with a soft spot for helping businesses borrow to grow, expand, and make bold moves. For Joshua, finance isn’t just about numbers; it’s about backing people who are building something bigger than themselves (and doing it without losing their sanity).

Clients say he makes the process clearer, easier, and occasionally even… fun. Yes, fun. So whether you’re buying your first home, refinancing, or quietly plotting world domination with your business, Joshua’s here to help you secure the right finance. You can expect at least one very bad dad joke along the way. Sorry.

Kai

Kai Stewart

Kai is obsessed (not in a weird way) with understanding people’s stories and helping them turn those stories into something real. He didn’t get into finance for the love of numbers, but for what they represent: choices, freedom, opportunity. Every deal he structures and every conversation he has is about helping someone realise what’s possible with the right strategy behind them.Kai help clients find smarter lending solutions, structure their finances, and take control of their financial future.

Beyond broking, he runs The Real Build, a series interviewing successful business owners and industry leaders to uncover the real stories behind success—the setbacks, hard lessons, and insights that shape great people. Kai also has a moustache which he claims makes him appear more trustworthy (this is backed by zero science).

Paul

Paul Birrs

With decades in the finance industry under his belt, Paul has handed over the reins of his company, Saving Dollars, by merging with the team at Beck McLean Finance. Pretty smart, right? While he still supports his long-time clients, Paul’s excited to work alongside a younger team that can offer an even bigger toolkit to help people on every step of their financial journey.

When he’s not crunching numbers, Paul can usually be found drooling over vintage cars, swapping stories in car clubs, or enjoying chatting someone’s ear off over a coffee. But he’s not all talk—he’s all ears and believes everyone has a story worth hearing. Seriously—we’ve yet to find a story Paul deems boring. Yes, we’ve tried, and yes, we can confirm he’d genuinely love to hear about your boiled potato recipe while he talks you through loan options.

Makala

Makala Trezise

Makala first came to Beck McLean to build our website… and we pretty quickly realised we couldn’t let her go. Now she’s a key part of the team and absolutely smashing the admin role—keeping loan processes on track and clients updated every step of the way. Her attention to detail, organisation, and knack for making complex things simple mean everything runs smoothly.

With a background in design and development, Makala’s creativity and problem-solving energy power her work. She thrives in a team that’s sharp, professional, and full of banter and claims that here, work feels less like a chore and more like a daily dose of fun. Is she just saying what we want to hear? Maybe. But boy, do we love hearing it.

Crushing numbers, not souls.

How? With hard work and core values that actually mean something.

1.

Connection

Aww… But it’s true. Get peace of mind, comfort, understanding and validation as you make some of the biggest, financial decisions of your life.

2.

Fine Print

Metaphorical and literal. We read it, we love it, and we know ‘getting’ the small stuff makes a huge difference

3.

Huge Print

Also the big picture stuff. That also makes a big difference. And we get that too.

4.

Hard Stuff

If you’re up to your waist in fiscal sh*t, so are we. We’re in the trenches with you, and we’re there ‘til the end.

5.

Community

We actively support the people around us, sometimes at a cost to ourselves.
